Even in the heyday of Napster, record companies felt some consolation knowing that mp3 audio is of lower quality than cd audio. But now people are configuring their computers to function as servers and are sharing what’s called “lossless” audio: huge files made to download and burn right away onto CDs.

The generational computer literacy gap is getting smaller and media planners are taking notice. Ads targeting middle-aged and older consumers are being placed on Kazaa media desktop, the No. 1 filesharing program.
