Health services come to retail
November 8, 2004
With an ageing demographic and a desire amongst retailers to offer more relevant services, it seems only natural that health services would make a move into retail. Store chains like Target and Kroger are now introducing nurses into their stores to help deal with customers minor health issues. The operation is low-overhead; small booths with just a computer, a printer and a Tele-Checker machine.

Influx expects to see more health checking and consulting services moving into retail environments, some of these are likely to include self-diagnosis machines.
In addition, grocery stores have the opportunity to help educate the increasingly health-conscious consumer on their nutritional requirements. There’s an opportunity for enlightened HMOs looking to promote preventative medicine, to partner with grocery chains and develop nutritional and diet programs.
