Innovative magazine creates unique branding opportunities

January 7, 2005

Issue #2 of GUM is completely sold out. And I’m not surprised, as it’s one of the most innovative ideas for a magazine to date. It’s the kind of magazine that you read cover to cover, and then leave on the coffee table for all of your friends to admire. And it gives youth brands the opportunity to push the boundaries of print advertising.

GUM2 is a 200 page, $25 annual covering art, design, pop culture, music and social issues. They combine the style of a high-end art book with substantive, yet irreverent content. This issue comes with an activity book, oversized baseball cards designed by artists like Dalek, a dispenser on the bottom of the box for the gumballs, a Viewmaster, and a pack of Puma gummy Puma shoes.
