Alec Soth is a photographer who is building quite a reputation for his ability to captures the underside of America.
Niagara is his latest project, which has just finished showing at Gagosian Gallery in New York. Soth examines the sad underbelly of Niagara with its seedy motels, divorce parties, newly married couples, women waiting in their wedding dresses, found love and hate letters and teenage mothers with their babies, the whole mix is there.
Soth has a great talent for finding his subjects, but also capturing their inherent sadness.
