For airlines, black is the new black

July 5, 2006

Starflyer is a new low-cost regional airline that operates between Tokyo and Kitakyushu.

Like the US’s Jet Blue, Starflyer, operates Airbus A320s complete with leather seats, TVs and a snack trolley.

What’s most striking and original about the airline is its black livery.

The aircraft are painted black and the interior is furnished with black leather seats.

In the airline world blue is usually the preferred color, with most airlines working on a variation around that theme, so to see a designer use black, is very different for the category.
