The cellphone and team-building games

January 12, 2006

It’s easy to take the cellphone for granted now that everyone has one. However, it’s probably the most important piece of technology in the last 100 years and one that has profoundly changed our lives.

One interesting example of way cellphones are changing our lives in subtle ways is with team-building games that are popular with corporations seeking to improve the moral and working spirit of employees. The Go Game is one that integrates cellphone technology to bring an interesting twist to these games.

This is how they describe their game:

We are the team building and recreation event of the future. While other companies offer paper based scavenger hunts, we are the only game in town to use wireless-web technology. The phones we provide are used to deliver missions, time events, record photos and videos and track team’s progress as they meander their way through the game zone.

We also hire actors to pop up throughout the game and we throw in an MCed judging phase at the end, where you can kick back with your co-workers and use your phone to vote on the best videos and photos taken during the game. And we’re competitively priced. Find out what it would cost to get your company in on the game with our online quote generator.

Go Game have used a widely available technology to re-define a category and make it more interesting and compelling. It seems to be successful, they have an impressive client list that includes the likes of Ford, Sun Microsystems and Adobe.
