Arcade fire- counter marketing

June 12, 2007

Everyone’s odds-on favorite to be the world’s next “U2″, Arcade Fire, appear to have discovered irony way faster than their Irish counterparts. The Canadians are there after album No2, while it took U2 took at least 5 to grasp it.

Two of the band members decided to appear in the audience of the “Price is Right” as a viral marketing stunt to promote their latest album. They can be seen in the video wearing t-shirts- one with the name of the new album Neon Bible.

It’s a move that doesn’t make traditional marketing sense.

Why would you appear on a show who’s audience is never going to be in the market for your album?

That’s the point
