Is your business carbon neutral?

January 10, 2007

We originally wrote about carbon neutrality on August 15th, 2006.

Now it’s great to a US corporate giant develop a carbon neutral program.

Yesterday, Dell announced it was teaming up with the carbon fund and the convservation fund.

It’s also further proof that energy is going to be a big issue for brands in 2007

Here’s the original post.

Influx was looking at the website of one of our favorite qualitative research companies, Flamingo, and discovered that it was proudly proclaiming its carbon neutrality.

It seems that companies across the UK are now doing their bit for the environment through Carbon Neutrality initiatives. It’s especially interesting given that most people consider the environment to be an issue that “industry”, rather than the service business has to face up to.

Even Coldplay are now making their music in a way that’s carbon neutral.

The process is simple; you calculate your annual CO2 emissions and then you look for ways to neutralize that amount of CO2 you generate. That neutrality comes in two forms; technology to reduce CO2 or forestry. Many of the companies involved in this simply plant trees to offset their carbon emissions.

While it seems to be sweeping the UK, Influx has yet to hear of similar initiatives in the US.
