The urban farm is officially cool

October 12, 2007

The urban farm movement has been slowly gathering steam in the last couple of years. The manifestations range from people converting their small city lots to fully fledged farms to a movement that encourages people to tear up their lawns and plant vegetables.

Wallpaper Magazine decided that the movement deserves its attention and devoted a recent issue to the topic.

It’s unlikely that this movement will become mass and that we will soon see American dads and kids on weekends mucking out their pigs, instead of going to soccer practice.

However, it’s the fringe of a bigger movement, one that’s looking for greater control and accountability over the food they are eating.
