Adidas knows what it takes to market today

January 30, 2009

According to Today and Tomorrow, Adidas seems to know a thing about marketing in challenging times.

A couple of days ago, the company hosted a house party at its Berlin concept store and had a special sale at the same time. Most companies have parties, but they sell nothing. At this event, Adidas sold 2,500 pairs of shoes. They had people lining up for these shoes from mid morning to late at night. The big reason for the interest was the price of the shoes, $20 a pair.

In addition to holding a sale, Adidas also hosted a great party. It was a “House Party” in the true sense of the word. They “set designed” a real house in the store, complete with a drinks cabinet and a kitchen, where people could help themselves to drinks.

It appears the effort Adidas put into this paid of. Having a nice creative spin and offering products for sale, makes this stand out from your average brand party.
