Gaming has locked itself into such a narrow focus, it’s hard for it to imagine a route beyond the expected. Instead of thinking of the potency of a connected device, most console manufacturers and game developers, think narrowly about play.

How about thinking about Play + blank..

You can imagine a myriad of opportunities if you fill in the blanks like; education, business and health.

That’s clearly where Nintendo is heading with the Wii, with today’s announcement that in Japan, Nintendo is going to partner with a health insurance company to provide health guidance.

Yes, it uses the Balance Board.

I’ve always felt that Nintendo stumbled into the Blue Ocean, but now the brand is firmly out there, they seem to be set to exploit it for all its worth.
