Is work being re-defined?

March 30, 2010

It’s interesting to hear Jason Fried of 37Signals talk about the problem of the modern workplace where interruptions rule.

He suggests we need new ways to work which gives people the time and space to really work, rather than waste time in meetings.

It seems that there’s something of a revolution happening in the workplace with two cultures clashing with each other; one which is “old school” and mired in the values of traditional face-to-face communication and the other “digital school” which is all about finding productive ways to work.

Many in the old school don’t understand how the new “digital school” can be productive when they are multitasking there way through the day- interacting with a variety of people, networks and programs without ever leaving their desks.
