Max capacity finds art in old media

August 7, 2012

In the crystal clear 3D, HDTV world with digital audio, it sometimes seems like everything is just a little too perfect.

However, if you turn back the clock a couple of decades you can find a world where technology wasn’t quite as perfect.

It’s the world of VHS tape and 8-bit video games, a world that’s examined and explored nostalgically by artist Max Capacity.

Max’s art is all about playing with the glitches, faults in the old systems and finding unique and interesting juxtapositions in this world.

Capacity is the topic of a recent profile on Storyboard (see below) made by Tumblr to showcase some of the talent that’s using the service.

It’s another example of how media brands are using video to get their story across to a broader audience and further evidence of how C21st web-based companies are eschewing advertising in favor of developing alternate forms of communication.
