This is a great example of transmedia planning.

Acclaimed director- Michel Gondry puts a video on You Tube where he solves a Rubik cube puzzle with his feet.

Just that act alone already causes people to ask a number of questions.

1. What the hell is Gondry doing putting a video up on YouTube?
2. How does he even know what You Tube is? Isn't he from France?
3. He's a great director- could he possibly have other skills?
4. Something fishy must be going on- what can it be?

Of course, he's playing a game with us, as this video explains.

He's also showing us that if you set out a trail that is full of apparent strangeness and contradictions, someone will take you up on the challenge and try to solve your riddle.

This is something some brands have already been exploring and others will be in 2007.

Gondry's little film helped demonstrate that brand Gondry is pretty "with it" and is interested in playing some new games with his audience. These must be exciting times for a movie director, because in the past, feedback was left out of the process and limited to critics, film festivals and test screenings.

What will he do next?
