remixing ourselves

DJs have been remixing for the last 20 years and they have been doing the mash-up for at least 4 of those. Now the mash-up is going beyond the DJ to the performers themselves, who are fusing and merging radically different cultures and styles.

One extreme example is Matisvahu, who performs reggae with a Jewish twist. Matisyahu (Matthew in Hebrew) grew up in White Plains, NYC and fuses his spiritual devotion with his love of reggae. It seems to be working, he is getting rave reviews for his live performances and significant radio play.
