Watching TV on our phones has always had Dick Tracy like appeal, but only recently has the idea promised by Sci-Fi writers, been realized.

Today, Sprint is bombarding us with advertising about its new mobile TV service that's available for handhelds, but the form-factor, although good, isn't perfect.

Vodafone in Japan have taken the TV/phone concept a step further by teaming up with Sharp to bring Aquos flat-screen technology to the phone. The result is a phone with a screen that swivels around to enable TV viewing.

It's interesting that Vodafone collaborated with another electronics company to bring its brand credibility into a new space.

What's next? A Sony Bravia phone?

Vodafone recently sold its Japanese operations to Softbank, so it remains to be seen if the alliance with Sharp will continue.
