According to a survey conducted by Perseus in Oct/03, only 66% of blogs had been updated in the previous 2 months. That percentage has probably decreased in the past 2.5 years as more people have abandoned their blog. Therefore a lot of these 50 Million to 200 Million blogs are probably not in use.
According to Technorati:
â?¢ The blogosphere is 100 times bigger than it was just 3 years ago
â?¢ Today, the blogosphere is doubling in size every 200 days, or about once every 6 and a half months.
â?¢ About 175,000 new weblogs were created each day, which means that on average, there are more than 2 blogs created each second of each day.
â?¢ Total posting volume of the blogosphere continues to rise, showing about 1.6 Million postings per day, or about 18.6 posts per second.
â?¢ This is about double the volume of about a year ago.
