Certainly new technologies will continue to help city-dwellers create more perfect homes. But taking a step beyond convenient appliances, security systems and home theaters, researchers are moving toward creating a more perfect location, or at least the illusion of location. Some time in the next decade, imagine sitting in an apartment on a busy street, looking out the ‘window’ to see any view you want, complete with the appropriate sounds, lifelike birds, crashing waves. At the International Builders Show, mega-corporation Andersen Windows displayed the next step in window technology, windows that double as super hi-res computer screens and stereo systems.
