The world cup sells

Nike and Adidas have both released some information on how the World Cup is impacting their sales and marketing efforts.

Nike

Since March, sold 2.4mm units of National Team kits

Had over 2.5mm participants in Joga3 Futsal tournaments worldwide

Nikefootball/jogaTV videos have been viewed globally more than 100 million times.

The “Joy” spot featuring the best player in the world, Ronaldinho, has been viewed 18m times and downloaded 1.8m times in the first eight weeks.

At nikefootball.com, visitors are spending an average of 13 minutes per visit

Adidas

Sold 15 million footballs priced between $113-$138

Predict $1.5billion in revenue from the sales of soccer related items this year

The cup is now in its quarterfinal stage, with 5 of the remaining teams sponsored by the two giants, with Nike behind the cup favorites Brazil. However, both companies continue to debate market leadership.
