Newpapers- from breaking news to daily analysis

Like other newspapers throughout the world- The Guardian, one of the fastest to embrace digital yesterday told staff that the company is not changing fast enough- the company is losing in excess of $50 million per year and is going to have to speed up some initiatives to slow down the losses.
One initiative comes directly out of the Guardian’s own research which found 50% of the newspaper’s readers read the paper at night, so they are going to re-design the format by shifting from breaking news to analyzing it.
Analysis is obviously a territory that belongs more to weekly publications like The Ecomomist, Sunday newspapers and television shows.
In a world where so much “news” is breaking all the time- it seems people are increasingly seeking “analysts” who can make sense of the world in quasi real-time.
