Sensors will change mobile

May 23, 2011

Nick Bilton writes in today’s NYT about the increase in the number of sensors in mobile phones and their potential applications.

Here’s what they will be able to do.

1. Elevation sensors could determine exactly where you are in a building to help people “find” you more easily

2. Heart monitors to help you track your health

3. Perspiration monitors to track excitement and mood

4. Clearer read on surroundings provided by better temperature and humidity sensors

5. Fingerprint sensors for better security

You can imagine these enhancing existing applications especially in the world’s of gaming, health, fitness, but also they can open up a whole new world of application possibilities.
