Influx Conference Speaker Spotlight-Arwa Mahdawi, Strategy Director, North America-Contagious

We are delighted to announce Arwa Mahdawi as one of our speakers for the Influx Creativity Conference being held in NYC on October 15th.
Contagious provides us with the vital benchmarks that demonstrate the best of the current state of creative communication and helps companies to understand, not just the examples, but how to apply them. With the idea of the conference being to highlight what it takes to get to great ideas, we are very pleased that Arwa is going to share what Contagious believes represent communication greatness right now.
To provide some more context, detailed below are short profiles of both Arwa and Contagious.
Arwa joined Contagious in 2012 started her career in law at the very well respected London firm- Slaughter and May. She then traded law for communications, and spent three years on the prestigious WPP Fellowship. During this time she worked across digital strategy, branded entertainment and social media in Ogilvy London and New York. She also spent a year at the Campaign Palace in Sydney, gaining in-depth creative planning experience as well as being chosen to represent Australia at AdFest at AdFest 2011 in Thailand, where she was a finalist in the Young Lotus competition.
Contagious was launched in London in 2004 by Paul Kemp-Robertson and Gee Thomson. The Contagious team now comprises 33 talented and inquisitive people from various backgrounds and disciplines.
Contagious operates at the intersection of marketing communications, new technology and consumer behavior and has become a strategic resource and creative reference tool for brands and communications agencies around the world.
The company headquarters are in Farringdon, London and opened in New York in 2010. They also have commercial representatives in Brussels and Mumbai. At the heart of Contagious sits its flagship magazine, app and online resource. As the name suggests, its mission is to identify the marketing world’s most social, shareable and inspirational creative ideas and to showcase the latest technological wonders.
Thanks to its unique position in the marketplace and its objective, editorial stance Contagious has also developed its own consultancy business. It works with a range of different agencies and brands to help foster innovation and contribute towards marketing strategies that are fit for tomorrow.
As a part of the consultancy’s service, Contagious offers clients innovation workshops that are designed to help reimagine a brand’s creative process. They recently worked with Mondelez International, for example, to create the ‘Fly Garage’: a dedicated innovation space that allows Mondelez to create a melting pot of creative talent.
